DASU is a
specialist, non profit making organisation with charitable aims
providing information, holistic support and advice to survivors of
domestic abuse. If you are experiencing domestic abuse in ANY of its
forms we can advocate on your behalf and help to minimise the risk
of further harm to yourself and your family. When necessary and
appropriate we can refer you to crisis refuge accommodation and / or we
can support you to access legal protection orders that help to make you
and your family safer.
We have close links with other agencies
and can utilise these to help you to continue to protect yourself in the future. When
agencies work together (multi agency working)
you, the domestic abuse survivor, should benefit from a more streamlined and comprehensive
service. If the person who is abusing you is known to be a High Risk perpetrator of
domestic abuse, you can have support to maximise your safety from Flintshires Independent Domestic Violence
Advisory Service (hosted by DASU) to liaise on your behalf with other
organisations ensuring that you
get a prompt service. Your allocated Independent Domestic Violence Adviser will have close links with the
Police and the
Crown Prosecution Service and she will be able to keep you informed on any criminal
proceedings and support you through them. She will explain court
procedures to you and help you to feel as comfortable and supported as
possible in the choices / decisions that you make. Her role is
independent from statutory organisations and her priority is your well
being.
It may be that you are not sure whether you are experiencing domestic
abuse and just want to talk to someone in confidence. You can contact us
and we can talk to you on the phone or arrange to meet with you at the
address given below. Our services are free and confidential and
led by your needs and circumstances. |
